Armed Forces Chamber Supports Passport Office Opening

The Armed Forces Chamber proudly joined the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District (LVCCLD) in celebrating the grand opening and ribbon cutting of the new Passport Services Offices inside the Rainbow Library (3150 N Buffalo Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89128). This is the Library District’s second location offering this high-demand service, following the successful pilot program at Windmill Library where nearly 8,000 applications have been processed since opening in 2017. The new office provides residents with a convenient, local option for this necessary government process. As an official Passport Acceptance Facility, the new office verifies identity and reviews passport application documents to be processed by the U.S. Department of State, and processes documents for first-time applicants.

The well-attended event welcomed more than 50 guests, including Chamber members, library leaders, community partners, and local residents eager to explore this new community resource that brings convenient passport services closer to home.

During the official program, JP Edwards, Executive Officer (XO) of the Armed Forces Chamber, presented a Certificate of Recognition to Kelvin Watson, Executive Director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. The certificate acknowledged the District’s continued commitment to expanding community services, strengthening public access, and supporting innovative initiatives that benefit Southern Nevada families.

Guests enjoyed a warm and festive atmosphere featuring light refreshments, beverages, and custom-decorated sugar cookies in the shapes of an airplane, a passport book, and the library’s logo—symbolic touches that highlighted both the spirit of travel and the library’s role in community enrichment.

Local media were also on hand to document the milestone. 8 News Now, 13 Action News, and Telemundo Las Vegas all featured coverage of the event, spotlighting the significance of the new Passport Services Offices and the strong community partnerships that helped bring the project to life.

Following the program, attendees were invited inside the new Passport Services Offices to witness the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Members of the Armed Forces Chamber—including JP Edwards, David Farrakhan, and Joanna Clark—assisted in cutting the ribbon, signifying the official launch of the new center. The moment underscored the strong partnership between the Chamber and the Library District, both of which share a mission to create meaningful opportunities and accessible services for the public.

"The Library District is committed to providing services that meet real-world needs and access to passport services is a perfect example," Kelvin Watson said. "As more families travel, relocate, or need identification to access opportunities, the demand for passport processing has grown. By expanding this service to Rainbow Library, we are helping residents navigate an essential federal process in a familiar, trusted, and convenient community space."

The Armed Forces Chamber and the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District share a longstanding collaborative relationship. The Library District is a proud member of the Armed Forces Chamber and has hosted two Chamber Halloween Trunk or Treat events at the Centennial Hills Library, along with Chamber meetings at library branches in Boulder City and Mesquite. These joint efforts highlight the District’s commitment not only to literacy and education but also to supporting veterans, military families, and the wider community.

“The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District has been an extraordinary partner,” said Andre’ Haynes, Founder and CEO of the Armed Forces Chamber“Their dedication to serving the community—not just through innovative library services but through heartfelt engagement and collaboration—sets a powerful example. We are honored to support the opening of the new Passport Offices and look forward to many more joint ventures that uplift, educate, and empower our neighbors.”

The grand opening of the new Passport Services Offices at the Rainbow Library marks another milestone in the Library District’s mission to broaden access, meet community needs, and provide convenient services that enhance the quality of life for residents throughout Clark County. Together with the Armed Forces Chamber, the District continues to make a positive and lasting impact.
