Armed Forces Chamber Supports Veterans Memorial Fundraiser Kickoff
On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, community leader and philanthropist Andre’ Haynes proudly attended the Veterans Memorial Fundraiser Kickoff at the Thunderbird Family Sports Complex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event marked the launch of a $10 million initiative dedicated to preserving and relocating 18 cherished bronze statues that honor military service members from various wars in American history. The statues will be moved from the Grant Sawyer State Building to a new memorial park in northwest Las Vegas, creating a lasting space for remembrance and reflection.
The project is a collaborative effort between the City of Las Vegas and the State of Nevada. Funding is being coordinated through the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE, a nonprofit founded in 2017 by former Mayor Carolyn Goodman to support city programs and projects through private-sector contributions.
According to the organization, the new memorial will feature an open-air promenade, an amphitheater, and educational displays that pay tribute to the more than 200,000 veterans who call Nevada home.
The preservation effort was championed by Vincent Palmieri, Jr., National Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and Honorary Board Director of the Armed Forces Chamber. Palmieri, Jr. rallied support by engaging local officials, veteran organizations, and community advocates to ensure the statues are protected and restored, allowing veterans and residents to honor their legacy for generations to come.
Notable attendees included Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley, Las Vegas Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske (Ward 4), and Chuck N. Baker, a Purple Heart veteran, radio host, and columnist, alongside numerous civic and military leaders.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal photographed Haynes and Palmieri, Jr. together and quoted Haynes saying, “It will be great. Not just for the veterans and all armed-service members, but for their families, too.” That same day, Ricardo Torres-Cortez’s article, “‘A place of reflection’: Veterans memorial planned for northwest Las Vegas,” highlighted the project’s goal of creating a serene, permanent memorial park for the community.
Together, these efforts honor patriotism, foster unity, and celebrate the enduring gratitude owed to America’s veterans.
